The CEO of Empower Pacific, Patrick Morgam says they have received over 1,850 calls for counseling and social work assistance like requests for food items in the last three months.

He says for the month of October, there were about 279 cases of counseling that related to stress.

Morgam says a total of 957 calls were received last month, which is the highest. These calls mostly related to food assistance, counseling and around 300 callers enquired about the services they provide.

He also says there is a lot of communication breakdown which leads to problems and people need to spend quality time with their family.

Morgam says after a pandemic or disaster there will be a lot of crisis and people will be overwhelmed given the lack of resources.

While confirming that students are also calling their helpline, Morgam says students need the most support to bring them back to normalcy.

He says their counselors provide various forms of support.

If you need to talk to someone, you can contact Empower Pacific on 5626.
