Employment Minister Parveen Bala says his team is on the ground and in a couple of weeks they will be able to know how many workers have returned to work after the easing of restrictions and opening of the borders.

Bala says it is important for them to know how many people were at home however it is too early to say something.

He adds more than 300 people will be travelling to Australia in January which will be under the Seasonal Worker Scheme and Pacific Labour Scheme.

Bala says the opening of Fijian borders has really provided more opportunities.

The Minister says as of now there are around 900 Fijians in Australia under the Pacific Labour Scheme.

9 Fijian age care workers will be going to Australia next week under the Pacific Labour Scheme for a term of three years.
