Employment Ministry reiterates that voting day tomorrow is a public holiday

The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations has reiterated that Election Day, tomorrow is a public holiday.

In a statement the Employment Ministry has urged employers not to prevent employees working tomorrow from voting.

The Ministry further states that employers must make the necessary arrangements to ensure that their operations are not affected.

It adds that whether it is early in the morning or later in the day, workers and employers can cast their votes before the closure of the polling venue at 6pm tomorrow. 

The Ministry of Employment has also highlighted that for employers who will operate on Election Day must pay their workers their public holiday pay in accordance with section 67 of the Employment Relations Act 2007.
