The newly appointed Electoral Commission is confident that the Elections Office will meet the timetable for the elections this year.
Commission Chairman, Chen Bunn Young said everything is on track and they are now working on the immediate issues that need to be addressed.
Attorney General and Minister for Elections, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum also said that they have an aim to have credible elections before September this year.
He said the commission and the government do not want dodgy elections with many flaws as noted in the EU report for the 2006 elections.
Sayed-Khaiyum said they are still aiming to have elections in a day.
About $44 million will be needed to hold the general elections.
When earlier questioned by Fijivillage, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said these are estimates and the Electoral Commission will analyze all the needs for the 2014 polls before coming up with a final figure.
