380 electronic voter registration units have been purchased by the government for $3.9M as the Elections Office gets ready to start the voter registration exercise from July 3rd.
Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that a massive public campaign will start soon as about 640,000 people are expected to be registered at 1,150 centres across the country over an eight week period.
Sayed-Khaiyum also said that the new system will eradicate voter impersonation.
