Eid is a celebration of seeking righteousness, taking the solemn pledge to lead a righteous life of truth, justice and sacrifice for the greater good.

While wishing the Muslim community a joyous and blessed Eid-ul-Fitr, National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad highlighted that the holy month of Ramadan and celebration of Eid is significant as it is the practice of self-discipline, increased prayers, spiritual development and charity towards all, especially the underprivileged and less fortunate.

He says the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr reinforces to us that respect, tolerance, unity, goodwill and peace are paramount for our multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural nation.

Professor Prasad says fasting is an act of both seeking purification and making sacrifices for the blessings of the almighty for peace, unity and prosperity.

The party leader says they also acknowledge the important contribution made by the Muslim community in the development of Fiji and the pioneer leaders of the Islamic faith who always put national interest above anything else including personal interest in the progress of our nation.

As our Muslim community celebrate with their families, friends and neighbours in a spirit of togetherness he wishes everyone, Eid Mubarak.
