The Ministry of Education is facing challenges in collaborating with the trustees and management of Vatuwaqa Primary School, which was destroyed by fire in December 2022.

Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro confirmed this to fijivillage News after parents raised concerns that little progress has been made to reconstruct the school 3 years later.

Radrodro says they hoped the school audit conducted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade would provide a foundation for the rebuilding process.

He says that for the time being, there are many issues regarding the school's management.

Radrodro says since Vatuwaqa is not a government school, the Ministry cannot proceed with any development without the cooperation of the trustees.

The Minister says the lack of engagement and assistance from the school’s management to rebuild the school has been a concern for them.

He adds that they are currently trying to work on the ground to work with the managers of the school.
