The Ministry of Education is alerting people about a false announcement being shared online from a fake website pretending to be the Fiji Ministry of Education.

In a statement, the Ministry says that this announcement wrongly claims that all schools in Fiji will be closed from today till the 6th of October 2024, due to an outbreak of monkeypox, with 35 new cases supposedly reported.

They say no announcement of any school closures has been made and all schools will remain open and operating as usual.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services confirms that there are no cases of monkeypox in Fiji.
