Easy access for people of Cikobia after receiving fibreglass boat and engine

People of Cikobia in Labasa will now have easy access to the main island and be able to manage economic sustainability after receiving a fibreglass boat and an engine from the government through the office of the Prime Minister's small grants.

While handing over the boat and the engine Assistant Minister in the office of Prime Minister Sakiusa Tubuna highlighted that this will empower the youths of Cikobia to generate economic activity such as fishing and trading with vendors on the mainland in Vanua Levu.

He says its main purpose is to bring people together and to assist in sustainable income sources as the government is looking at ways and means to have economically viable and sustainable solutions for communities.

Tubuna also urges to have a small committee that will determine usage charges so that the generated income can be used for repairs and maintenance that are associated with usage.

Pastor Sireli Tawake says they are happy as this will allow them to travel and catch fish.

They say there are more than 100 houses and this will benefit them in all aspects for transporting their goods as well as some of the boats they have are very old which is risky.
