The Fiji Airways Fijiana fell short against Japan in the third place playoff as they went down fighting 22-10.
Fijiana's tries were scored by newcomer Atelaite Ralivanawa with a double.
The Japanese ran in four tries to Sakura Mizutani, Hana Nagata, Sakurako Yazaki and Mei Ohtani.
Japan led 17-7 at halftime.
Most of the time the Fijiana had the ball but they were constantly pushed back by the Japanese side.
The Fijiana beat the USA 19-7 in their first pool game, they then defeated France 28-19 before going down 31-12 to New Zealand in their last pool game.
