Incidents related to drugs and substance abuse and violence amongst students in schools will not be tolerated at any cost.

This was highlighted by Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy after few incidents in schools were reported to the Ministry and investigations were conducted.

Reddy stated that the Ministry is steering the education system into the direction of a more dynamic and modern education system and while such incidents are unfortunate they will certainly deal with it and ensure that such cases are not repeated.

He says that in schools, they are implementing moral values education through moral values classes, religious classes and celebrations, Family Life Education.

Reddy says that they have reviewed and implemented the Child Protection and Behaviour Management policies which clearly guides the teachers and School Heads on procedures of actions while dealing with student related issues and situations.

He adds that these policies guide teachers on the rights of the child ensuring that proper action is taken in the best interests of the child and the school.

He says that there should be no case of any enmity between schools and they are working hard to eliminate this culture.

Reddy says that relationships between schools must be cordial and of great friendship.
