An 18-year-old man of Drekeinakelo, Tailevu has been identified as the driver of the vehicle that was pulled out of the Rewa River this afternoon.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed that the driver was positively identified by his Uncle.

Naisoro says that the joint search team comprising of Fiji Police and Fiji Navy divers with assistance from the National Fire Authority managed to pull the driver and vehicle out of the river this afternoon.

She says the car was located after 8am this morning when divers saw oil leading them to the location of the submerged vehicle.

Police say the driver of the vehicle whilst proceeding towards Nausori tried to overtake another car when he lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road and went into the Rewa River in Naduruloulou near Baulevu, Nausori last Wednesday.
