The fatal accident in Korovuto, Nadi

Police are yet to charge a 23-year-old man who is alleged to have caused an accident that claimed the life of a farmer of Sarava, Ba.

The accident occurred on Queen's Road along Korovuto in Nadi on Saturday morning.

Police have confirmed the victim was a passenger in the vehicle driven by the 23-year-old man which was heading towards Nadi from Suva.

It is alleged the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and collided with a street light post.

Three other adults, a 9-year-old child and a 2-month-old baby were also travelling in the vehicle.

Police say all were rushed to the Nadi Hospital where the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two of the adults and the 9-year-old child were treated and sent home, while a man in his 50s remains admitted in stable condition.

The 2-month-old baby is also admitted under observation as he sustained minor injuries.

The road death toll currently stands at 10 compared to 7 for the same period last year.
