Driver charged in fatal Lautoka accident granted bail

The driver who is alleged to have caused the death of a 22-year-old man following an accident in Lautoka last Sunday has been granted bail by the Lautoka Magistrates Court. Raphael Lesi Manufolau was bailed with a sum of $400 and a surety.

He was told to surrender his travelling documents and driving license, not to drive, and re-offend.

A curfew from 6pm to 6am was also part of his bail conditions. Manufolau will re-appear in Court on the 6th of May. Police say the driver was heading towards the Lautoka Hospital when it is alleged that he tried to overtake a car near Drasa Avenue when their vehicle hit an oncoming vehicle.

A 22-year-old man lost his life in this accident.
