Draft decree proposes no Police search warrant

Draft decree proposes no Police search warrant
The Volatile Substance Abuse Draft Decree proposes for the Police to carry out a search for volatile substances without a warrant.

Head of the Fiji Police Drug Unit Training Inspector Anare Masitabua explains why this is needed.

Masitabua said they do not want a delay in getting a search warrant as those selling drugs may try to dispose or destroy the substances.

He is calling on the public to make submissions on the draft.

Meanwhile, consultations on the draft decree on Volatile Substance Abuse will begin at 9am today at the Hot Springs Hotel in Savusavu.
