Dr Ram Raju removed as Nadi Chamber President after vote of no confidence over financial mismanagement
Dr Ram Raju

Dr Ram Raju has been ousted as the President of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry following a vote of no confidence due to financial mismanagement.

Lawrence Kumar, a qualified engineer and former administrator of the Nadi Town Council, has been elected as the interim president.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Kumar says they had an annual general meeting in February and a date was set for a special general meeting last night as the accounts were not in order.

He says the interim board will have to look at the financial mismanagement under the leadership of Dr Raju.

Kumar says they will also get the accounts independently audited before referring it to relevant authorities.

Secretary Shalendra Prasad says Dr Raju led the Nadi Chamber of Commerce for 17 consecutive years but was removed in a landslide vote of no confidence by close to a hundred members who attended the SGM at Bluelight Village Hotel in Nadi yesterday evening.

The other members elected are Vice Presidents Kishore Kumar and Vijendra Pillay, Secretary Shalendra Prasad, Treasurer Vinay Sharma, and Board Members Ashfaaq Khan, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Shariff, Mohammed Aiyaz Munif, David Jamieson, Rina Kumar, Anita Narayan, Sudhish Patel, Sumeet Prasad, Akesa Lovodua, and Jerry Gounder.
