The Highlanders have suffered a double injury blow before the crunch game against the Crusaders on Saturday.
No 10 Josh Ioane has again been ruled out due to a groin injury, while young wing Sam Gilbert has suffered a knee injury and will be out of action for nine months.
Mitch Hunt is likely to replace Ioane.
The Highlanders will take on the Crusaders at 7.05pm Saturday while the Chiefs will face the Hurricanes at 3.35pm Sunday.
