Doctors concerned about growing list of out of stock essential and critical meds at public hospitals – Dr Vakamocea

Antibiotics, blood thinners and NCD drugs getting out of stock

There is now a very concerning growing list of out of stock essential and critical medicines at our public hospitals, and Fiji Medical Association President, Doctor Alipate Vakamocea is calling on the government to urgently address these supply chain issues.

Doctor Vakamocea says the doctors at the public hospitals are concerned, and unfortunately the patients would have to buy these essential medicines.

Doctor Vakamocea says ITC now has it’s own procurement pathway so they do not need to go through the Fiji Procurement Office.

He suggests that the Ministry of Health should have it’s own internal procurement process.

We have sent questions to the Ministry of Health and Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Biman Prasad.
