Dobuilevu Cane Breeding Station commissioned

Dobuilevu Cane Breeding Station commissioned
Minister for Multi-Ethnic and Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh

The Dobuilevu Cane Breeding Station has been commissioned with a newly enhanced office space and accommodation facilities as it is a significant step forward in advancing sugar research in Fiji.

Minister for Multi-Ethnic and Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh says this station holds a place of immense significance in Fiji's sugar industry as the birthplace of all the sugarcane varieties.

Singh says every commercial variety released by the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji has originated from Dobuilevu Cane Breeding Station.

Singh acknowledged the tireless efforts of the dedicated team of scientists and technicians who work rigorously from the early hours until late evening during the crucial April to August flowering season.

The newly constructed facility addresses this issue by providing a comfortable living environment for the scientists and technicians.
