Do not click on UNICEF link that offers prize money - UNICEF

UNICEF is urging people not to click on a link that has UNICEF branding and is offering prize money as it is a malware and can potentially compromise confidential information.

UNICEF says it is a scam and while it has taken UNICEF branding, UNICEF is not associated with it.

They say this is circulating in the Pacific, however the UNICEF branding that has been used includes the Spanish tagline (para cada enfancia) whereas UNICEF Pacific uses the English tagline (for every child).

UNICEF says competitions of such nature are against UNICEF guidelines and policies.

They say while UNICEF Pacific may occasionally gather stories and poems from children across the region, UNICEF does not ever offer government subsidies, nor offer prize money and the organisation would never use a malicious link.

They say any official UNICEF competition will be promoted on their official social media accounts or website and use an official URL that you can easily trace back to our official pages.

UNICEF Pacific has reported the scam to their digital governance team who are working to block it.
