Distribution of electronic tablets to Year 12 and 13 students from next year
Education Minister Doctor Mahendra Reddy.

The Education Ministry is now looking at distributing electronic tablets to Year 12 and 13 students from next year.

Minister Doctor Mahendra Reddy confirms the smaller version of the tablet will have all lessons of the text books and the electronic device will also have access to data.

However Reddy says they will make sure that certain sites are blocked.

He says the Ministry will provide data for these handsets and the handset will be in their control meaning the students will not be able to unlock it.

The cost for purchasing handsets for Year 12 and 13 students will be around quarter of a million dollars and Reddy says they are now looking at potential donors.

He adds the students will be handed over the tablets and they can keep it with them in the holidays and utilize it for study purposes.

Reddy has also stated that students will have to take care of the gadget and if damaged they will have to buy a replacement.
