Discussions on suburban bus shuttle stations has begun.

Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and members of the Ministry of Economy virtually met with the Land Transport Authority and the Fiji Roads Authority to discuss the project.

The suburban bus shuttle station project was announced in the 2021-2022 National Budget.

Representatives of LTA and FRA presented a proposal on the pilot project for the Valelevu Bus Shuttle Station which would set the framework for the construction and operation of the Tavakubu and Nakasi suburban bus shuttle stations.

According to the Draft terms of reference for the Expression of Interest, LTA will invite submissions from individuals, existing Road Route License operators and other existing public transport providers to provide bus shuttle services to transport working Fijians from the shuttle stations to their places of work.

The area of service will include densely populated areas such as Valelevu, Makoi, Nasinu, Nabua, Narere and Nadawa.

It says fares will be determined by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission in consultation with the LTA and other stakeholders.
