Minister for Health Rosy Akbar has confirmed that the Ministry takes disciplinary action against doctors and other medical practitioners if they are involved in cases of negligence.
This was after Fijivillage asked Akbar if the recent baby deaths and two mothers dying during birth is a result of the negligence of doctors or nurses or cases of natural causes.
Akbar says they only reveal the cause of death to the families of the deceased.
She says that the Ministry has already fired doctors that were found to be negligent.
However, she will not comment on specific cases in the media as these issues are discussed directly with the families of the deceased persons.
