Digicel Fiji celebrates 16th anniversary with epic giveaways

In celebrating its 16th anniversary in Fiji, Digicel Fiji is offering community grants and launching an epic Sweet 16 birthday giveaway to mark the occasion.

Digicel Fiji says since it's launch in 2008, they have transformed the country's telecommunications landscape, bringing affordable, reliable and high-quality services to Fijians.

They say the company's market entry marked a significant milestone, breaking the monopoly, slashing call rates and boosting mobile penetration.

Digicel Fiji CEO Farid Mohammed says if Digicel did not enter the market, Fijians would be paying exorbitant rates for telecommunications services.

He says they have been able to offer affordable rates and innovative services that have benefitted individuals, businesses and the country.

Mohammed says for 16 years, they have been the community’s trusted partner, delivering exceptional value, service and network.

He adds Digicel Fiji has consistently invested in its network infrastructure to provide Fijians with access to reliable connectivity with total investments close to $0.5 billion.

The CEO says as they celebrate their 16th anniversary today, the company remains committed to providing exceptional service and supporting the growth and development of Fiji.

Mohammed says today, over 90 percent of Fijians can enjoy the coverage of Digicel Fiji’s network as they have expanded their network coverage significantly, reaching previously underserved areas like Natewa, Rabi, the Lau Group and Lomaiviti.

He says notably, Digicel Fiji was the first to offer coverage in Cicia, Moala and Rotuma.

He adds to boost connectivity further, Digicel Fiji invested in a fibre network in Suva and deployed community satellite Wi-Fi in Namosi, Bua and Lau.

He says this has connected previously isolated communities, bridging the digital divide and improving access to information and services.

Mohammed says over the years, Digicel Fiji has been a major community supporter, sponsoring Fiji Rugby 7s, Digicel Cup National Provincial Rugby Championship, Fiji Netball, Special Olympics Fiji and the Fiji Football Association.

He also says the company has also backed initiatives like Diabetes Fiji, WOWS Kids Fiji and others.

The CEO says Digicel Fiji is committed to social responsibility and believes in empowering Fijian communities and the company is offering $48,000 in community grants for this birthday celebration.

There will be 3 x $16,000 grants and people can visit www.digicelfiji.com to learn about the grants and file their application.

Additionally, the CEO says as part of the birthday celebrations, Digicel Fiji is excited to announce its Epic Sweet 16 birthday celebration and with MyCash, it's More For You, Everyday!

Offering over $160,000 in cash, instant cashback and prizes. He says for 16 years, they have been connecting and empowering Fiji.

There is $48,000 worth of cash plus other prizes and offers during the celebration and customers can also enjoy instant 5 percent cashback on MyCash QR Pay transactions while shopping at Newworld and Newworld IGA Supermarket, fueling up at On The Go Mobil service stations, MyCash top-ups, Sky Pacific bill payments and discounts on mobile phone purchases.
