Discussions are still being held in relation to the cut off age of buses operating on our roads.
Following number of buses getting involved in accidents, Fijivillage raised the question with the Transport Ministry on whether there should be a cut off age of buses in the country.
Principal Economic Transport Planning Officer, Sainiana Radrodro said Government and the Land Transport Authority is holding discussion to bring changes and part of the discussion involves review of current bus industry as 95% of Fiji’s population rely on buses.
She added that while there is no cut off age for buses in Fiji, they are relying on checks conducted by LTA officers in terms of fitness of the buses.
