Dawai and Tikoisolomone put on hold by the Highlanders

Mosese Dawai and Vereniki Tikoisolomone have not been included in the Highlanders team to face the Crusaders tomorrow

Mosese Dawai and Vereniki Tikoisolomone have not been included in the Highlanders team to face the Crusaders tomorrow.

Highlanders coach Tony Brown says the quality of this week’s opposition was a factor in dropping Dawai after his tough debut, while fellow winger Tikoisolomone is seen as “project” player who will come into calculations as the season progresses.

Dawai was replaced after 40 minutes against the Chiefs last weekend following several errors.

That leaves the Highlanders without a specialist winger on the field, but Brown says they were not prepared to risk Dawai at this early stage of his Super Rugby career.

Brown says he feels with the quality of the Crusaders, they just needed a little bit more experience and a little bit more work-rate right around the field.

The Crusaders will face the Highlanders at 6.05pm tomorrow.
