Dalo farmer from Macuata plans to buy gifts and prepare for back-to-school needs for Christmas

Sailasa Maiqilo, a dedicated dalo farmer from Namuka in Macuata, is making the most of the festive season with good sales at the Labasa Market, where he earns about $300 daily.

Maiqilo says that he sells 10 to 20 bundles of dalo, priced between $20 and $30 per bundle.

He says his farm is located in Wailevu, Savusavu and he has to face challenges, including high transport and labour costs.

The farmer says despite these challenges, he ensures that his produce, which takes 7-months to grow, reaches the market in time for customers.

When asked about his plans for his earnings, Maiqilo says that he will buy Christmas gifts and do back-to-school shopping for his children.

Maiqilo says with the remaining money, he will use it to cover transportation costs between Savusavu and Labasa Market.

He has wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
