The Fiji Performing Rights Association hopes that police and relevant authorities will strictly enforce the new Copyright Amendment Decree 2009 which comes into effect tomorrow.
Association President Eremasi Tamanisau said all music and video pirates should stop what they have been doing and abide by the law that has been promulgated by the government.
Under the new copy right laws, a dealer will have to prove that the music or video DVD's are not pirated or face the penalties which includes fines between $5,000 to $50,000 and 12 months imprisonment.
Solicitor General Christopher Pryde said only hours remain for the amendment to come into effect and everyone has been given enough time to get their house in order.
