Cyclone alert for Lau Group
A Tropical Cyclone Alert is now in force for Moala and the Lau Group.

Tropical Cyclone Wilma was located near 12.8 South, 171 West or about 1050 km off Cicia Island and 1150 km from Moala at 12am today.

On its forecast track the cyclone may bring damaging gale force winds over Moala and the Lau group in the next 24 to 48 hours.

For Moala and the Lau group, South to South East Winds 37km per hour increasing to 65 km per hour in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Heavy rain at times is expected including flooding of low lying coastal areas from late tomorrow.

Tropical Cyclone Forecaster, Terry Atalifo confirmed for the rest of the Fiji group wind speeds are expected to intensify in the next 24 to 48 hours and continuous heavy rain can cause flooding of low lying areas is also expected.
