The current break in the World Sevens Series due to COVID-19 is being used as a recovery period by Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team players injured during the season.

Players who were injured are former captain, Paula Dranisinukula and playmaker Livai Ikanikoda while Kalione Nasoko suffered a knee injury during the Canada 7s tournament last year.

Coach Gareth Baber says that there is a downside to this as there is an element of de-training of players during this period but he is confident that the programs they have given to players will bring them to the level where they will be back to their winning streak once the tournaments resume.

The tournaments in Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and Paris have been postponed to later in the year due to COVID-19.

Fiji currently sits in third place on the series points table with 83 points, South Africa is second with 104 points while New Zealand leads the series with 115 points.
