Creating 50,000 jobs is achievable
Creating 50,000 jobs in the ICT industry in 15 years is achievable.

Former Fiji Investment Corporation chief executive Atma Maharaj at the Fiji Institute of Accountants Congress which ended yesterday, said currently Fiji is being seen as an aspiring Business Process Outsource destination and achieving this target is possible.

Maharaj said with a number of companies currently looking at starting operations in Fiji this year and with the right developments, we can transform Fiji to being a true challenger to even being a BPO leader.

He added the ICT industry has an impact on every sphere of the economy and creating a good impression on Fiji can have multiplier effect on tourism, the audio visual industry and other investments.

Maharaj said based upon normal BPO growth patterns, we will achieve at least 10,000 jobs in 10 years.

Fijivillage has confirmed that Maharaj is no longer the Chief Executive of Fiji Investment Corporation.
