The case of the two men who are charged with the murder of an 86-year-old retired businessman in Nagigi, Savusavu, has been transferred to the High Court.

27-year-old Amenatava Saimoni Elder and 29-year-old Luke Baulei appeared in the Labasa Magistrates Court this afternoon.

The court has refused their bail application, and the case will be called again on the 2nd of June.

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, the two men are alleged to have forcefully entered the home of the businessman, where they assaulted the victim, causing injuries, and stole assorted items.

They were initially charged with aggravated robbery and remanded at the Labasa Correctional Facility.

Earlier this week, the Labasa High Court released the suspects into police custody for further questioning about the man’s death.
