One of the 4 charged in the 4kg methamphetamine case in Nadi last week is a member of the Counter Narcotics Bureau, and Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says he is very concerned and has directed that the constable be interdicted without salary.

While speaking during a press conference, Tudravu says he will be meeting the Minister soon with regards to the Bureau.

When questioned on the criteria for selecting officers for the Bureau, Tudravu says it was established before he assumed office and the only thing he can do now is go back to the Minister.

He says the police officers are not based in the Fiji Police Force but in the Ministry.

The Commissioner says as the drugs came from a Southeast African country and bound for Fiji, this is a new dimension for them and they are investigating.

Meanwhile, a foreign national has also been charged in this case and will appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
