The Council is aware of the Makoi Market leakages and is in the process of repairing this and the washrooms are in good condition which is being used by market vendors.

This was the response from the Chief Executive Officer of Nasinu Town Council, Anurashika Bari, when questioned by fijivillage News what is the Council doing to fix the problem of leaking roofs of the market.

Bari says there is a need to develop the market which will require significant investment, but they do not have funds or borrowing capacity for this development.

She says the Council called for an Expression of Interest under the Public-Private Partnership to develop this site in 2021 and 2022.

She further says they have received more commercial submissions than the perspective of social responsibility.

Bari adds they have made submissions to the Government to be able to secure funding for this project.
