Cost of damage from MH Nabua Supermarket fire for MH alone estimated to be $800,000 to $1M

The cost of damage from the MH Nabua Supermarket fire for MH alone is about $800,000 to $1 million.

Carpenters Group Fiji Retail and Marketing Director, Kunaseelan Sabaratnam said this is for the assets and stock from the supermarket.

Sabaratnam said the building is owned by Padam Lala of Lotus Garments and they will have talks with the landlord on when they would be ready with a building.

Further decisions will be made after this discussion however Sabaratnam said they will definitely bounce back.

He said the 40 workers from MH Nabua have been reassigned to other MH supermarkets.

There are some suggestions that the fire started from the kitchen.

However the National Fire Authority is yet to determine the cause of the fire.
