The Consumer Council of Fiji has issued a stern reminder to all taxi drivers to adhere to fair charging practices by charging only metered fares and avoiding any extra fees, especially for M-PAiSA transactions.

This comes as people raised concerns about some drivers imposing additional charges for M-PAiSA payments.

The Council say the guidelines prohibit taxi drivers from adding any M-PAiSA fee beyond the standard metered fare.

Passengers paying via M-PAiSA should only be charged the amount shown on the meter, ensuring transparency and fairness in fare collection.

The Council urges all drivers to comply with these guidelines to maintain consumer trust and uphold fair service standards.
