Traffic jam occurs

The Fiji Roads Authority says construction work is still being carried out on a long stretch on Kings Road at 8 miles, Nasinu and is being done on behalf of Water Authority of Fiji in replacing the existing 250mm water main.

Senior Engineer Yogesh Raju says the contractor has installed new pipes and is carrying out pressure testing and connection works at Makoi traffic lights.

He says the trench is currently reinstated temporarily and will only be permanently reinstated once the pressure testing has passed and the anticipated permanent reinstatement is early next week.

Raju says the temporary reinstatement has been washed away for the past few days due to the heavy rainfall.

He says the contractor is carrying out reinstatement everyday prior to closure of site.

FRA has made these comments after serious concerns have been raised by motorists as to why no sealing works have taken place on a long stretch on Kings Road at 8 miles, Nasinu.

We have also witnessed that during peak traffic time, a big traffic jam occurs on this section of the road at 8 miles as motorists do not want to use the left lane which is in a very bad state.
