As we celebrate International Women’s Day this week, Fiji Airways A330-200 and Airbus A330-300 Captain Seini Koroitamana Cornish shares her story on what ignited her passion for aviation, what she loves most about her career, and how she broke through barriers to be where she is today.

In a video she posted on social media, Cornish says connecting Fiji to the outside world as the captain of Fiji Airways was the most rewarding job she could ever ask for.

She says she grew up in an aviation community and it became a natural choice for her to choose the job.

Cornish also says she gained inspiration from one of her cousins who was a pilot and her cousin always believed in her aspiration knowing that one day she could fly a plane.

She says having her cousin’s support was the turning point in her life.

Cornish stresses that this is the power of having positive-minded people around them, and those who believe that they can accomplish things even when they doubt themselves.

She reiterates that aviation means connection and family to her and she loves her job.

Cornish has been with Fiji Airways for 16 years ever since starting as a Second Officer on the Boeing 747-400 aircraft in 2005.

She has progressed to become a First Officer on the Boeing 737, Boeing 767, and Airbus A330 aircraft.
