The Ministry of Economy is urging Fijians to observe COVID-19 safety protocols such as wearing of masks and physical distancing when rations are delivered to them by their teams.

The Coordinator for supply and distribution of rations, Kamal Gounder says delivery teams have highlighted the risk to their safety due to people not following protocols.

Gounder says delivery teams will return without distributing rations if people do not adhere to proper COVID-19 protocols.

He says this is for the safety of their teams.

The government has so far distributed more than 50,000 food and essential item packs to families in targeted lockdown areas or in home isolation.
