An inter-party committee will meet today following concerns raised by SODELPA that they are unhappy that the coalition agreement is not being executed by The People’s Alliance and National Federation Party.
SODELPA hold the balance of power in the coalition government with 3 MPs – Viliame Gavoka, Aseri Radrodro and Ifereimi Vasu.
SODELPA met last Friday and they want answers on what is happening to their board appointments and diplomatic postings that were agreed to before the coalition agreement was signed.
fijivillage News has been told that SODELPA has certain expectations in the National Budget as well based on the agreement.
It was confirmed early this year that SODELPA was offered 3 ambassadorial positions and 22 board member positions.
SODELPA Vice President, Anare Jale said they gave SODELPA members the opportunity to apply for these offered positions however he stresses that the agreement is clear that they must put people in with proper qualifications and experience.
Jale said people have to meet the minimum qualification requirements, and those who join the board have to resign from the party.
fijivillage News has sought comments from Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka after concerns raised by SODELPA over the past few days. We will also speak to SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka and National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad.
