Close to $9 million will be spent on the electronic voter registration exercise which is expected to start from the 3rd of next month.
Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said $5.9 million has been allocated to the Elections Office by the government while $1.7 million will be given by the Australian government.
$3.9 million has already been spent on getting the electronic voter registration units.
About 630,000 potential voters are expected to be registered over the eight week period.
