A fashion show that focuses on climate change, reusing and recycling old clothing was held today at the the residence of the Australian High Commissioner, John Feakes.

The theme for this year’s APTC Fashion Parade was Climate Change - Reuse and Recycle by focusing on a fashion industry that is more environmentally friendly.

APTC Fashion student, Akuila Naiova, made a powerful presentation to the guests explaining the importance of reusing and recycling clothes.

He stated that the fashion industry is the world’s second largest polluter.

Designers from Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Samoa were among those who showcased their talents tonight.

Keeping in mind the importance of reusing and recycling, designer Shanaaz Begum even used the material from a potato sack for one of her creations.

Meanwhile, Samoan designer Vernice Faamaile has dreams of starting her own business as a fashion designer back home upon completing her Fashion Course here in Fiji.
