Climate change is a grave concern to lands and mineral sector – Vosorogo

Climate change is a fight government can not overcome alone and is urging the people of Ba to work with government and the local authorities in mitigating the impact of climate change.

Speaking during the closing of the 2023 Ba Farmers Carnival, Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosorogo highlighted that climate change is a threat to peace, security and the Pacific region’s existence.

He says it is of grave concern for the Ministry as it devastates the economy and affects people’s living.

The Minister says that in recent years Ba has witnessed some of its worst floods and the damages caused on crops, livestock’s and property is alarming.

Vosorogo adds that the extreme weather conditions has been experienced all over Fiji.

He adds that he is happy about Ba Farmers Carnival making its comeback after four years since 2019.

The theme for this year’s Carnival is "Climate Change and its effects on the Agricultural Sector”.
