Clarification: Man who admitted in court today that he was selling drugs, is not a Police officer

fijivillage clarifies that a man who was found with over 600 grams of marijuana on 7th February this year and admitted in court today that he was selling drugs, is not a Police officer.

The accused Usaia Sokoni appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad this morning.

When Magistrate Prasad asked him if he was selling drugs, Sokoni replied that he was.

Sokoni was found with 3 garbage bags in his house containing marijuana, another bag was in the rubbish bin with another two bags found in the empty lot next door.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of being in possession of illicit drugs.

Sokoni will appear again in court on 3rd December.

Meanwhile the Fiji Police Force says the report unfairly drew criticism against the organisation.

Acting Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga says the Fiji Police Force has, and will always accept responsibility when a member of the organisation fails to uphold the ethics of their oath to service, and continues to be transparent when a member of the organisation is charged and produced in court.
