Claims of PALM Scheme suspension are false

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade has dismissed recent social media reports alleging the suspension of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme, calling them false and misleading.

According to the Ministry, a post circulating online claiming that Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has threatened to suspend the PALM Scheme due to crimes committed by Fijians is entirely fabricated.

The Ministry says it has confirmed with Australian authorities that no such statement has been issued by the Australian Government.

It reassures all PALM workers and stakeholders that the partnership with Australia remains strong and the scheme continues to operate as normal.

The Ministry is urging members of the public to avoid spreading or engaging with such false information, and to refer directly to official sources for verified updates.
