Church pastor appears in court for allegedly assaulting his daughter

A Domestic Violence Restraining Order has been issued against a 46 year old church pastor who allegedly assaulted his 18 year old daughter on Sunday night.

The man appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court in the last hour and has been released on a 200 dollars bail bond.

The prosecution had no objection to bail as the man is a first offender.

It is alleged that the church pastor cut his 18 year old daughter’s hair, hit her a few times with a sasa broom and then hit her with an electric cord.

The alleged incident occurred at their home on Sunday night after the church pastor checked his wife’s phone and saw text messages from a guy to his daughter.

The daughter was also in court and had facial injuries and visible scratches on her shoulder.

The case has been adjourned to May 23rd.
