Chilwell to miss World Cup with hamstring injury

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell says his World Cup dream is over after a scan showed he has a significant hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old, suffered the injury in the Blues' 2-1 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

Chilwell suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in November last year and was ruled out until May.

He has been capped 17 times by England and was in their most recent squad in September, although did not play.

England starts their World Cup against Iran on 22nd of this month at 1am, while boss Gareth Southgate names his squad on Thursday.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will kick off on the 21st of this month.
