With the cost of preventing child abuse much lower than reacting to it according to UNICEF, a Child Protection Community Facilitation Package has been launched today to prevent child abuse in Fiji.
The Child Protection Community Facilitation Package that cost $100,000 to compile is a tool for community based positive parenting skills training processes and focusing on the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Justice of Peace and Sigatoka Assemblies of God Senior Pastor Shalendra Kumar said the Child Protection Package is a great package that will get the message to the public that children are precious gifts of God.
For the first five months of this year, there were 132 child abuse cases in Fiji.
68 cases were sexual abuse while 18 cases were relating to physical abuse.
