The Chiefs edged the Crusaders 26-25 in a bruising Super Rugby Aotearoa clash last night to go second on the points table.

Fullback Damian McKenzie was the star of the night as he nailed four penalties and two conversions in a faultless performance.

Lachlan Boshier and winger Jonah Lowe scored a try each for the Chiefs to give them their fourth win in a row.

The Crusaders tries came through Will Jordan, Leicester Fainga'anuku and Codie Taylor

They led 17-9 at the break.

Manasa Mataele also made his long awaited return to Super Rugby for the Crusaders in the second half.

On Friday, the Highlanders beat the Blues 35-29.
