It is very disconcerting and depressing to see the anomalies highlighted in the Auditor Generals reports over the past few years.
That is the message of the Attorney General and Minister for Public Entities, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum while opening the Corporate Governance Workshop for government corporate bodies in Suva this morning.
Addressing the members at the workshop, Sayed-Khaiyum said the Auditor General’s report showed that basic accounting processes and procedures were not followed and this is not good governance.
Sayed-Khaiyum stressed to the various representatives and heads that anomalies in the audit reports should be a thing of the past from this year onwards.
The Good Governance Workshop continues this afternoon with consultant and former judge, Nazhat Shameem explaining how the New Crimes Decree would affect the daily running of any company.
